Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is a safe and effective treatment that is commonly used by patients who experience dental anxiety and those who are undergoing lengthy or invasive procedures. A comfortable mask is placed over the nose, and a faintly sweet-smelling gas is administered throughout the treatment to induce a calm and relaxed state. Once the mask is removed, the effects of nitrous oxide disappear within a couple of minutes of breathing normal air.

Conditions that are considered dental emergencies:
- Dental pain that cannot be managed using over-the-counter medications
- Avulsed tooth (tooth knocked out, usually due to trauma, sports, or auto accidents)
- Swelling of gums, inside of the mouth, or the face
- Bleeding of teeth or gums that cannot be stopped with firm holding of pressure for at least 10 minutes
